Dream

“It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” – Paulo Coelho

My dream today is seeing the words of my manuscript between two covers. The weight of the book feels good in my hands, and the cover looks like the real thing. I riffle through the pages, and feel excitement about what’s inside.

To be honest, it’s not a dream I’ve had all my life. It’s only recently that I dared to really envision it, to believe in it as a real thing that will happen one day. Writing a novel–length manuscript is an incredible challenge, but at this point it feels like the easier part. At least it’s something I have control over.  Publishing still holds many unknowns.

But like the summit of a mountain on a long hike, I believe the end point is not a mirage. It’s real, it’s achievable. If I plant one foot in front of the other, keeping my goal in sight, I can get there.

You can too.
