Dance in the Rain

“Life is not a matter of how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.”
⎯Khalil Gibran

One of the most frequent emotions that assails me when facing the prospect of publishing my novel is a feeling of being overwhelmed. But I haven’t yet ventured into the storm. I’ve heard it’s full of editors swamped in a sea of manuscripts; queries sent into a void, and rejection letters with scant explanation.

I’m going to listen to Khalil Gibran. Life is about learning to dance in the rain. What does that mean? Venture out, take the steps you know you have to take, and celebrate every one of them. Pin up the rejection letters as badges of courage, until you get the one you’ve been waiting for. There’s no way to go but forward.
