Hope is wild and contagious” – Elin Kelsey

If you think the earth is on the fast track to the apocalypse read Elin Kelsey’s book “Hope Matters: Why Changing the Way We Think is Critical to Solving the Environmental Crises.”

Focusing on successes in the fight against environmental degradation — finding out what works and why it works — is more likely to build solutions than doom and gloom defeatism, she says. The removal of a dam that boosts the rewilding of the Ukrainian Danube Delta; the cleanup of London’s River Thames that now supports breeding of harbor seals; and the maintenance of urban forests that helps create healthy cities, are stories she pays attention to.

And this applies to writing? Yes! Build on what works. Find out from folks what resonates in your stories. Support others by pointing out what they’re good at. And let all the great writing out there be an inspiration to add yours to the pile.
